History

This land was acquired before 1900 by L. D. Farmin, and over the years, some of the original Springy Point acreage was sold to friends.

In the 1920s, Springy Point was a candidate location for a new bridge across the Pend Oreille River, but this was ruled out for several reasons. Instead, a new bridge was built in 1933 next to an existing wooden bridge that crossed the Pend Oreille River into Sandpoint. This site is still used today.

In the mid-1930s, Wray Farmin built an attractive rustic summer home on Springy Point and later guest cabins were added. In this secluded and scenic area, the Farmins enjoyed many happy vacations. By 1960, part of the Farmin land belonged to the US government, and the property now includes a developed campsite.
